one of my favorite but also again alas relatively rare flavor of fic is where actually, it turns out Q is the well-adjusted one (well, as well-adjusted as anyone working at MI6 can be), and Bond is the manic pixie disaster nightmare
#00q#it's more rare because Q tends to be the one written as the manic pixie or manic pixie-esque one#but. I like it when he has like normal people problems. and you realize. oh Bond is the one who has something profoundly wrong with him#a sort of adjacent flavor to this is Q like assuming Bond - despite being an international superspy etc - is still. like.#you know... a functioning adult?#and acts accordingly?#but then he slowly realizes... oh actually this man is very Not Normal and incredibly out of touch with like. normal people things and#is coasting on his spy skills of adaptability and like social mimicry. but actually he has no idea what a normal people relationship is lik#and like. what a normal people meeting the friends and family situation is like. cuz he's never done that really#Bond's whole job and persona hinges on him projecting that he is very With It but I like it when you realize oh actually no#there is something profoundly wrong with this dude <3 but like not in a 'way youd expect' way wrong with him in a completely normal way#Q is like let's go to a carnival! and Bond is like let's what (has no concept of normal ppl dates like let's kiss on a ferris wheel)

valentines day alphabet ( no longer accepting )
literally no one asked for this, i’m just doing this one to treat myself
A : AFFECTION. how does your muse show affection?
He’s such an affectionate guy that it’s hard to pin down one way. Skip is physically affectionate with the people he cares for, giving it out almost absently; he’s generous with his time and with his money, putting effort into finding gifts for people he cares for. His primary love language, though, has got to be gestures. Skip loves being able to show people how much he cares. He’ll run errands, do favors, rearrange his schedule just so his friend doesn’t have to go to a party alone... what really sets Skip apart from the crowd is the sheer lengths he’s willing to go to for other people.
B : BOUQUET. does your muse like flowers? which ones are their favourite?
He doesn’t know the first thing about flowers, but damn him if he’s not going to try. Skip has a fixed idea of what “the perfect boyfriend” looks like, and chases that ideal constantly. It’s romantic to show up to your date’s house with flowers, so of course he’s going to do that! Except he got them for $5 at the grocery store, they’re bright purple and leaking dye everywhere, now it’s all over his suit, damn it ---- he puts in the effort. That’s what counts.
C : CHOCOLATE. does your muse like chocolate? which one is their favourite?
Like... he’s not obsessive about it, but would he tackle his buddies for a pack of M&Ms? Absolutely. Without hesitation. Eating chocolate is great, but all the fun lies in obtaining it.
D : DATE. what is your muse’s ideal date? where / who with / etc?
It needs to be something fun. Skip... gets bored easily, and on dates he must keep himself entertained. He’d love to go out dancing, or to do something fun --- in the modern era, he’d love laser tag and carnival dates, just because of the raucous atmosphere. Skip can have a good time with pretty much anyone, but he loves doing fun things with his partner the most.
E : EMBRACE. does your muse like hugs? what are their hugs like?
He’s such a great hugger. Skip gives big brother hugs --- the kind that seem to wrap you up, like they’re determined to protect you from the world, fierce and fond all at once. He pulls someone in close, pressing his chin against their head or shoulder, and rubs their back until they settle down. His hugs can be enthusiastic when the mood calls for it, but also really, really tender.
F : FLIRT. is your muse good at flirting? how do they flirt?
He’s such a friendly flirt. Which isn’t to say he’s bad, but, like... half the time you can’t tell if he’s actually flirting or just being nice. He doesn’t have a lot of game, but Skip’s got the personality to make up for it. He’s just charming. A well-delivered pick-up line can make anybody laugh, whether it’s good or not. That’s his go-to move when flirting --- get someone laughing, start up a conversation, and get a feel of who they are from there.
G : GIFT. is your muse good at gift - giving or do they struggle to get it right?
He’s very good at getting gifts for the people closest to him; people always drop hints, and he’s learned how to pick him up. If his sister wants a new makeup kit, he’ll get it for her; if his mother’s been needing new music to play, he’ll buy her a record. Skip likes giving gifts, regardless of the occasion... but for casual friends, on birthdays and the like, he’s prone to giving gag gifts. If he can’t be certain it’s something they’ll love, he’d at least like it to be something they’ll laugh at.
H : HEART. is your muse quick or slow to give their heart away?
Quicker than he means to be. Skip’s never been good at guarding his heart; he lets people in too easily, and is always quick to see the best in others. Yeah, he’s been stung by people he cared about before, so he should really know better... but he’d rather have a hundred friends than five enemies. When he feels himself falling in love, he falls fast.
I : I LOVE YOU. does your muse find ‘i love you’ easy or hard to say?
Honestly, it’s not something he gives much thought to. Once he’s fallen in love, it’s the easiest thing to say in the world. Yes, he loves them! Yes, he wants the world to know it! He’ll tell his friends. He’ll tell his grandma. He’ll tell the old guy at the convenience store who smells like socks. He’s in love with the most amazing person in the world! (He talks about his partner so much that his friends half-feel like they’re dating them too.) It’s just as easy for Skip to say it to their face as it is to say it behind the back. He says it so often that his partner becomes desensitized to it after a while... but it sure is nice to hear.
J : JEALOUSY. does your muse get jealous in a relationship?
He’s actually really decent about jealousy. While he’ll get protective if he sees his little sister talking to a man, he isn’t weird when it comes to his own relationships. So long as he trusts the guy, he doesn’t think they’d move in on his partner; and, of course, he trusts his partner to the moon and back. If an interaction seems too friendly, he’ll keep an eye on it, but he’d never dream of snooping or interrogating his partner over it.
K : KISS. is your muse a good kisser? why / why not?
Skip is a very gentle kisser. He’s careful in his actions, in the tender movements of lips against lips, because he’s so conscientious of his partner; any sign that they’re not enjoying it, and he’ll lose his nerve. It’s not that he lacks confidence, but Skip needs encouragement from his partner, egging him on and fueling into his passion; with it, he burns a steady flame. He’s playful with his kisses, making sure his partner isn’t holding onto any anxiety. Intimate moments like this, in Skip’s mind, should be fun, not overwhelming. He loves to trail kisses along his partner’s jaw and neck, murmuring praise between each breath as his hands explore their body as much as he’s allowed to.
L : LOVE. who does your muse love?
Skip feels a very intense bond with his family. He and his siblings couldn’t be closer, and he’s felt responsible for his mother since he was a kid; she’s always looked after him, but he also looks after her. Skip also adores his friends more than it’s possible to say --- and the sheer amount of friends he has speaks to how much love he’s got to give.
M : MOONLIGHT. is morning or night a more romantic setting?
He’s more in-the-mood at night, because Skip and mornings don’t really get along. Anytime before 8am, he’s just going through the motions of existing. His partner could tie him to the bed and shower him with rose petals, and he’d have trouble remembering it come afternoon. (He might fall asleep in the middle of the show.) Nights are a way better time for romance.
N : NAUGHTY. what is your muse like in bed?
Skip’s got an adventurous streak. There’s not much he’s afraid to try once --- that includes positions, places, and kinks. While he doesn’t have a depth of experience behind him, he’s got a keen sense of movement --- the way his partner’s body shifts against his own, the way he grinds against them, the way their chest heaves and their limbs slide under his palms... sensation is a big thing for him, and he can’t help noting each one during the act. They taste sweet, and smell like summer rainstorms, and when they moan his name it sounds like a prayer... honestly, he gets riled up on the sensations alone. He’s an energetic partner, but will match his pace to suit his companion’s. While he can’t help being loud, he’s love a partner who could match him, or at least be a little verbal in bed (again, he needs encouragement). He’s a pretty firm switch, but is thrilled when his partner takes control. Getting a little rough drives him wild.
O : ODE. does your muse have a way with words?
Well, he isn’t Shakespeare in love. He tries his best. Skip knows better than to write love poetry, and he’s got no talent with a pen, but... he’s achingly sincere with his words. When he tells someone he loves them, there’s not a hint of artifice --- he just means it, with every cell in his body, and the truth radiates through his words.
P : PARTNER. what does your muse look for in a partner? looks / personality?
Skip needs someone he can connect to. Someone warm, emotional, who someone with understanding and empathy. He’s drawn to... very bright people. He’s definitely want someone with a good sense of humor; he’d never be happy in a relationship with someone he couldn’t laugh with. Having fun, going on adventures, being a little stupid at times... these are all things Skip values in a relationship, and his partner would have to be able to roll with that. He’d probably love an artist, someone creative, who has passions and isn’t afraid to talk about them. Somebody who can keep up a conversation --- communication is a huge thing for him in relationships, so he’d need a partner open to doing that. Someone who values family highly, with a deep capacity for love and a firm sense of self. And, of course, they have to have a great laugh.
Q : QUESTION. would your muse ask the big question or expect their partner to?
He’d absolutely ask the question --- the real question is, how. Knowing Skip, he’s not going to settle for something conventional. Dinner-date proposals are played out, and he doesn’t want to put his partner on the spot with something too public. He might enlist his best friends to help plan, just to have people to brainstorm with; in the meantime, Skip would sow his seeds. He’s not a huge planner, and has all the subtlety of a drunk duck, so if he makes a plan, his partner will be able to tell something’s up. He finally concocts some wild plan with Penkala and Malarkey, springing it on his partner last minute... and once they’ve finished doing a scavenger hunt or chasing squirrels in the park with messages around their necks, whatever the boys have come up with, he’ll drop to one knee with a look of extreme hope on his face. “I’ve wanted to ask this for a long time --- hell, probably since the minute I met you --- but now just feels right. Do you... feel the same way?”
R : ROMANCE. is your muse a romantic or a cynic?
He’s got a very strong romantic side that really only comes out once he’s “in love” with someone. Like... he’s not always successful, but he’s very creative about it, and very enthusiastic. Yes, he did knock over the candles and accidentally set the food on fire, but wasn’t a romantic dinner a great idea? He likes being romantic, because doing things like that, putting on a show, feels like giving to his partner.
S : SWEETHEART. did your muse have a childhood sweetheart?
He definitely had a few girls in the neighborhood with crushes on him, cause Skip was an absolute sunbeam as a kid... but his true loves were both at home. Skip’s mom and his little sister both got the lion’s share of his attention growing up; he loved them both so much that romance never crossed his mind. (That changed when he got to high school don’t worry, but it was fun while it lasted.)
T : TRUE LOVE. does your muse believe in true love?
Sure he does. Okay, it’s not for everyone --- his parents sure didn’t have it, and he learned the rough way that high school romances are usually too flighty to be called love --- but it’s a thing, no doubt. It’s real for the people who want it, and who’re lucky enough to find it. That’s gonna be him... one day, he’ll fall in love too.
U : UNREQUITED. has your muse had their heart broken?
He had a few nasty breakups in high school. They never knocked him out for long, but definitely hurt, and he still carries the scars from them. Let’s just say, the words “we need to talk” set off some Kill Bill sirens in his head.
V : VALENTINE. how does your muse feel about valentine’s day?
He gets weirdly enthusiastic about it. For Skip, Valentine’s Day is an opportunity to impress. He’s always got plans --- as a kid, he made a point of being both his mom and his little sister’s Valentine every year. As he got older, he never lost the habit of double-Valentining. Now, he usually goes on double-dates with his sister. Does his V-day date really want to be hanging out with Ruth and her boyfriend of the week while Skip argues with the maître d' about dinner reservations he absolutely didn’t book last minute? Probably not, but he didn’t consider doing it any other way. Skip always wants to give his partner a good time, but he’s usually... just a bit too much on Valentine’s Day. He’d be better off relaxing and just letting his partner plan something.
W : WEDDING. would your muse get married? why / why not?
Absolutely! He doesn’t have to think about that one. Skip’s got a ring picked out in his head and is ready to walk down the aisle by, maybe... the sixth-month mark? It’s not that he moves fast, he’s just very confident in his own heart. When he knows, he’s sure. Getting married has always been something he wants --- not having grown up with a stable family unit, he craves his own little slice of domestic bliss --- and as long as it’s to the right person, he’s ready to go.
X : XOXO. does your muse use / like pet names?
With extreme glee. He loves throwing out goofy ones, just to see how his partner reacts, and will lay it on thick in front of their friends just to make people groan... but in private, he’s fond of “baby”, “doll”, “sweetie”, and the very cheesy “lovebug”, which earns him well-deserves eyerolls.
Y : YOURS. does your muse get protective easily?
Very. Skip doesn’t seem like a serious guy at first glance --- but he’s got an intensely protective side, cultivated from looking after his family since he was a little kid. He’ll lay it all on the line for the people he loves. No one messes with them. No one hurts them. Skip will take care of it, and he’s not afraid to get physical to do it. His go-to, of course, will always be to try and make nice first, see if a little friendliness can diffuse a tense situation... but if someone lays hands on his loved one, all bets are off. No one would take Skip for a fighter until he throws that first punch.
Z : ZZZ. how many people has your muse slept with?
Oh no, his Mama raised him right --- these lips don’t kiss and tell! (That’s a lie. He spent a full hour talking Malarkey’s ear off about an amazing kiss he had on a date once, until Malarkey wanted to smother him.) Honestly... not many. He’s always been a popular guy, but that doesn’t automatically translate into “people want to take him to bed”. Skip’s been with three people. He’s not the type for sleeping around --- he takes sex personally, more than he really means to.

Seiyuu Animedia September 2018: Interview with Kobayashi Aika (Part 1)
The first of two interviews in the recent Seiani. This one was Saint Aqours Snow themed.
Scans from Dyrea. QC from Mega.
“I can feel a ring around Aqours”
Q: Now that the 3rd Live Tour is over, tell us some of your honest thoughts.
A: It went by even faster than the 2nd Live Tour. We gave it our all, and had a lot of fun, but it still feels like there was a hole left in my heart. There were days after the tour ended where I would think “Oh, I guess there’s no rehearsal today?” (laughs).
Q: Were there any challenges you set for yourself during the 3rd Live Tour?
A: Definitely my solo song! Having everyone’s eyes on me in such huge venues, and basking in the glow of penlights in my color… just thinking about it makes me shiver. Being able to give input into the design of our performances made me really happy, too. It was a performance filled with things that we wanted to do, and so I wanted to let everyone fall in love with Yohane. I designed the performance thinking, “I want everyone to see how charming Yohane can be”.
Q: Was singing while sitting on a chair your idea?
A: Ever since I first heard the song, I had the mental image of sitting on a throne while singing, and the costume I imagined looked a lot like the SIF Punk Rock set costumes, so I suggested those for this performance. Also, the title of the song is “in this unstable world”, so I had the image of constantly going back and forth between Yoshiko and Yohane. It’s about what’s there between an angel and a fallen angel, so I also put a black and white wing on the back. Yohane was wearing white on the cover of Season 1’s Blu-Ray Volume 4, and I think white looks good on her. So I tried to convey the idea of Yohane and Yoshiko’s coexistence. I’m glad I was able to get that across in my solo song; the costume turned out even better than I imagined.
Q: Did you have any goals or challenges for the group songs as well?
A: I’m always performing to look like just Yohane does, but this live focused on Season 2, so I made it my goal to focus on getting the little details down. For example, in MY Mai☆TONIGHT, there’s the “O” shaped mouths. It hasn’t really come up before, but in the song, there are a lot of places where we stress the “O” syllable, so I took a good look at how they’re done. I also made sure to check exactly how many times I need to wink, and I’ve become more conscious about what the other members are doing. I feel like I want to become a vessel to for Yohane to descend into and perform in.
Q: You’re really mindful about the details, aren’t you?
A: Right. There’s the “Yohane Bun”, but I also make sure my bangs are just like hers, and I dye my hair a little blue. I think it’s nice that I can become a vessel for Yohane, and let the audience connect with her, even for just one moment.
Q: Did anything in Aqours’ performances leave an impression on you throughout the tour?
There’s two things. One is definitely MIRACLE WAVE. I know how hard Anchan has been working, so I was really moved by her. At the moment of the jump, there’s a part in the choreography where she looks right at me, and I can see her holding in her emotions, and her nervousness right up close. I don’t know what kind of face I should show her...and when I see her expression, it makes me want to cry. But I feel like I have to cheer her up, and I think Yohane is the kind of person to do that too, so I always tell her “Go for it! You can do it!”. I’m so happy that she didn’t get hurt across the 3 venues and 6 performances.
Q: And what’s the other thing?
A: WONDERFUL STORIES. It’s the tour title, so I thought it might come sometime in the middle or at the end of the main performance, but it turns out that we did it at the end of the encore. I feel like the song being an insert song at the very, very end of episode 13 has a lot of meaning. It’s a summary of Love Live! Sunshine!!, as if the song was our curtain call. Having that be our last song gives even more meaning to the place that this franchise has brought us to. I think it’s really significant.
Q: How was performing on stage as Saint Aqours Snow?
A: I bet everyone was excited to finally see “Awaken the Power”, and I was really happy to be able to perform in front of everyone as Saint Aqours Snow! It’s an insert song in a very important episode of Season 2, so I think everyone had high expectations. Standing at center stage and being enveloped in everyone’s cheers felt really great… I was so surprised at how hyped up everyone was (laughs). It was fun feeling the power of the Numazu school idols and the Hakodate school idols coming together.
Q: From the 1st Live and the 2nd Live Tour, up until this 3rd Live Tour, what part of you do you think has grown the most?
A: I feel like our camaraderie has gotten even stronger. We were somehow able to make it through the 1st Live, but since then, our bonds have gotten even deeper. We went from being just friends to best friends, and from best friends to being like family by the time the 3rd Live Tour came around. Our individual feelings are all connected, and I’m excited to see where we’ll go from here.
Q: And what comes after becoming family?
A: As Yohane would say, everything will become one...something like that. (laughs).
Q: Do you feel like anything about Aqours has changed or grown with the 3rd Live Tour?
A: We do two days at every venue, and the first day is always nerve-wracking, but when I look at everyone’s faces, they look like they’re having fun. It’s different from the debilitating nervousness we felt during the 1st Live; even though we’re nervous, I can feel that we’re enjoying ourselves. I might feel pressure, but I also feel like I want to have fun. It’s probably because I feel like everything will be okay when I’m with everyone.
Q: You mentioned becoming “like family” earlier. Your bonds must have gotten a lot stronger since then.
A: I can feel a ring around Aqours. Of course, there’s the ring that we form right before every performance, But also, the bonds between all of us in Aqours, and everyone in the audience who comes to see us, form an even bigger ring around us. That makes me feel at ease.
Q: Lastly, what do you think are Aqours’ strongest points?
A: There’s the “ring”, but also, our unity! Our performances are never something we make by ourselves. Whenever we rehearse, I never feel like our performance is fully completed. The fact that people come to our lives and get excited is what completes it. I think that’s one of the charms of Aqours, and it’s our strongest point.
I’m excited to see where these deepened bonds will take us
Q: Any memories from lives, fanmeets or overseas events?
A: At LA, the fans gave us a special surprise with their penlights by making a rainbow. I wasn’t sure about how well we would be accepted in a different country, but that showed us that everyone was happy to see us. When I saw it, I just started crying.
Q: Did anything fun happen during the 3rd Live Tour?
A: During rehearsals, Aida Rikako-chan fell right asleep while we were backstage (laughs). It was really funny, so everyone was taking pictures and videos. But then her eyes started opening and she kept sleeping with her eyes half open (laughs).
Q: Any thoughts from the Hakodate Unit Carnival?
A: The 11 of us singing “Yume Kataru yori Yume Utaou” left a deep impression on me. Also, for the people listening, seeing the units go AZALEA-CYaRon!-Guilty Kiss was probably a breath of fresh air.

Tiger, Tiger (00q)
This is my fill for Prompt 37 of the Anonymous Prompt Exchange Tiger, Tiger The first time Q saw it (he refused to even think about the word - nope, no deal) he rubbed his eyes and blamed it on the exhaustion that was making him hallucinate, proceeded to pack up his stuff - why did he always bring so many things with himself at the office? - and left for a much needed and well-deserved holiday weekend after draining the last, tepid dregs of his tea. The second time it happened Q pinched himself and squinted, eyes burning because the optometrist had put atropine drops in his them to check that everything was in working order before starting to discuss a new prescription for his glasses (he was getting blinder every day that passed so, it wasn't that unlikely that he was seeing things that weren't actually there: his eyes were playing games with him) The third time he did what every crappy self-help psychology manual all over the internet said not to do, in any case: Q acknowledged the hallucination "Bond.. did you turn into a panther?" He inquired warily, after spotting a very telling long and silky black tail. Two days earlier, it had been a leopard (certainly the agent hadn't painted his face like that? It was a carnival party trick) The week before, he'd pinched himself and not woken up when he thought he had seen a lion's mane shining like a halo around the other man's face. At the beginning of June, it had been the barely there after image of a paw. The problem was, everything Q had seen, had had a translucent look to it as if it was shimmering in and out of reality, making Q doubt about their existence at all. "How long has it been since you've last slept?" James inquired, arching up an eyebrow as he bent down to study Q's face "You look like it has been quite a while" Q batted the agent's pointing finger away, scowling at him and flushing at the same time, knowing that he had quite dark circles around his eyes that didn't look attractive in the least "Stop it and tell me the truth" he demanded "You had a tail, I know you had one" "You sound a little hysterical" James pointed out. And yes, Q didn't need Bond to point it out - he very well knew that he sounded like a raging fanatic preaching about non-existent things "You sound a lot like an arse" Q snarked back and gripped the agent's wrist to tug him closer and squint at him, in search of any signs that would prove him right. "Stop poking at me" James sighed, wrestling out of Q's grip and grinned before kissing the younger man's brow and walking away "Or not like this - I do enjoy other kinds of poking" he tossed behind his back. "I'll find out your secret!" Q shouted, huffing as he tugged his cardigan back in place and glared at the minions who had turned to look at them "Go back to work!" He ordered, sitting in front of his computer. He wasn't crazy - a little stressed maybe, but not crazy. Q kept repeating those words to himself, a slow mantra that helped him to reign back his nerves. For a while, Bond didn't show any feline characteristics and he even seemed to be a lot more obedient during missions; Q couldn't help thinking that the agent was trying to deceive him, lulling him into a false sense of security (he was aware of the fact that he was getting a little paranoid, no matter what he trusted Bond with his life - if not with his sanity) so that he would forget about the whole ordeal. Up until the moment Q found a bloody tiger in his living room and almost had an heart attack "Bond?" He inquired warily, hands held up and hunched over himself in an attempt at appearing as small and harmless as possible while also trying to make his panicking brain shut the hell up. The tiger let out a - menacing? Friendly? (Could tigers even be friendly?) - noise and stood up to rub against Q's shins, not unlike a cuddly kitten, clearly not quite aware of its strength and weight since it made the young man stumble. After regaining his balance, Q tentatively petted the agent's-turned-tiger head and couldn't hold back a little smile when the large animal pushed into it "You made me believe I was going insane, you bastard" he chided. The tiger purred loudly and Q chuckled, taking a hold of the supple skin at the nape of its neck and shook it in a scolding manner "Don't purr at me, mister. Tomorrow you're in for a bollocking"

To Death
For @fandomwritingchallenge.
Fandom: James Bond Pairing: James Bond/Q Rating: PG Word count: 4,781 Prompt: carnival Warnings: swearing, non-graphic violence, very light sexual content (nothing really happens though)
Q returned home from a very exhausting, tedious day at work, bearing the image of a steaming hot cup of tea in his mind. He has been looking forward to one since the moment he left his lab, and now he could enjoy it at last.
Only—he found his flat’s door open by a cranny as he approached it with a key in his hand. He panicked. His other hand automatically reached for a pen with a mechanism that could shoot poisonous darts if the right button is pressed. He always kept it in the front pocket of his bag.
He narrowed his eyes and proceeded with utmost caution. There had been an intruder in his flat, and maybe still was. He had to be ready. One slow step at a time, he approached the door and opened it; it emitted a creaky sound. Whoever was inside must have heard it.
Pointing the dangerous pen in front of him, he entered the foyer. No visible damage had occurred in there, but there was no sign of his furry friends, either. When he listened carefully, he could hear a female voice coming from the living room.
Though, he had a glimpse he had heard that voice before. But that was impossible, because that woman was—
Q neglected all of the previous cautiousness and rushed to the source of the noise. He nearly forgot to breathe.
The door between the living room and the kitchen was open ajar. He burst through it, and came to an immediate halt when he sighted the figure standing in front of the telly.
Why wasn’t he surprised to see 007 in there?
However, he was surprised by one different thing: the reason why it was so, that is to say. Well, it was two things, in fact—that, and whom he could see on a video tape.
M. His M. The silver-haired iron lady just as he remembered her and very much alive. It was merely a tape, but his brain was suddenly flooded with memories. She was telling Bond about an unfinished business; giving him instructions.
Bond acknowledged Q’s presence without moving by a bit. “M’s given me work. I’m going to Mexico,” he said matter-of-factly, without a twitch of his face. He did not add any explanation so as to why he had gone to his flat and not his fucking own. “And I need your help, Q.”
Bond needed his help. His. He trusted him enough to show him a secret recording M had bequeathed to him and him only; he trusted him enough to ask for his help with an unauthorised, off-record mission in bloody Mexico. Q figured he should feel honoured—but in reality, he had mixed feelings about it, because doing what Bond had asked him to would require going against the new M’s orders, and his own protocols. And it would require flying to boot.
Was he truly going to do this? Q asked himself before he knocked on the door and entered M’s office. Was he truly going to lie to M, to everyone, for the sake of a stupid, impossible crush?
He took a deep breath. Yes was the answer to that, apparently.
M was sitting at his desk, dealing with some paperwork. Having heard the door click as it closed, he looked up. The bags under his eyes gave away the sleepless hours he had tortured himself with whilst ordering the opposite to his employees.
“Yes, Quartermaster?”
“Good day, sir,” began Q. He cleared his throat before he continued. “I have a request to ask.”
He got this. He had prepared the speech and the impossible yet plausible stories that came with it. He had nothing to fear. Right?
M nodded, propping him to continue. “Sir, it’s my brother, Daniel. He’s been injured, and he’s got no one to take care of him, which is why I’d like to ask you for a week off.”
M raised an eyebrow. He closed the file he has been reading. “Is that it? Well, in that case, consider yourself dismissed, Quartermaster. I thought you were asking for a budget rise or something.”
Well, that went easier than he’d thought. Although it was true that he’d saved for about six months of leave he hadn’t used, and however he couldn’t see inside Mallory’s head, Q was certain he was happy to release his overworking Quartermaster without persuasion for once.
And speaking of money: “Since you’re mentioning it… Q-Branch could really use a budget rise too, after the recent development of events…”
“Dismissed, Q!” M raised his voice.
“Yes, sir. And thank you.”
Q backed out of the office. He stepped towards an unexpected and most likely unpleasant adventure he might really regret later. If there even is a later.
Why was he doing this, again? It certainly wasn’t for the sake of sanity and self-preservation; those factors were forgotten in the presence of Double-Ohs.
Speaking of which, there was one currently lounging on his sofa with a cat on his stomach. The smug bastard must have thought he owned the place, by the looks of it. The overly casual behaviour made Q nervous and slightly irritated.
“007,” said Q. He came to the sofa, holding a rifle in one hand. The other one was on his hip. “I hope you do realise I had to sneak into my own lab and get past a certain nosy brunette, in and out, in order to take this unauthorised firearm for the purpose of your little secret operation.” Bond did not seem to register any of those words. Q frowned. “It’s the only thing you’ve got. Don’t destroy it.”
“Wrong, Q,” Bond said, quiet. “I’ve got you, do I not?” He smirked, and turned his head to him.
“Alas,” he said, “but I outrank you, 007, and therefore you must obey my orders. And I am certainly not a piece of equipment.” He laid the rifle on the coffee table behind him and put both his arms akimbo.
The smirk on Bond’s face widened. Q had to look away, because he liked the way he looked more than what would be appropriate. “You work with one.”
“But you need me,” Q delivered a quick reply. He went to take his medical kit from the kitchen.
Bond cocked his head. He had to raise his voice if he wanted for Q to hear him. “And you need someone to pull the trigger for you.”
“In theory, I do not, 007,” Q shouted back. “Remember I could do as much damage as you, and far beyond. I could ruin their bank accounts and data files with one finger.”
“I could do that better.”
Q came back. “Don’t push your luck, 007. And get up from my sofa.”
His messenger bag hung over his shoulder. He carried no other luggage than that, unlike Bond, who had a trolley suitcase that let everybody in a 500 metres radius know they were coming.
He did not need more than that: more than his laptop, his mobile, passport, wallet, some spare clothes, some gear in case something went wrong, and a toothbrush. It was that simple. It was supposed to be that quick. He hoped it would be. Perhaps he shouldn’t, because he knew the history of 007’s operations all too well, but he didn’t have much of a choice than to swallow a sickness pill, and his fear with it.
And move forward in the passport control queue by two spots. It was nearly their turn.
Butterflies flew around in his stomach. He did not know if it was because of the upcoming flight or Bond’s presence. He did not desire to know. He just moved, clutching the passport of a British citizen in his hand.
“Can I get you something to drink or eat, gentlemen?” the nice, dark-skinned stewardess asked them with an accustomed broad smile.
Q was too dizzy to think about his stomach, or even register the question properly. They were merely two hours into the journey, but he had calculated every possible danger or breakdown that might possibly occur along the way three times.
Bond, however, “A bottle of champagne, please. Two glasses.”
That man will be the death of him one day. With this wild approach, it might come sooner than anyone would like.
“Of course,” the woman said. She moved on to take orders from a couple sitting behind them. There were only nine people with a first-class ticket.
Q cast an incredulous glance at Bond. “If you are attempting to get me drunk so you could hit on the stewardess, good luck with it.”
“I am doing no such thing, Q. I wouldn’t dream,” the Double-Oh said innocently.
“Ha.” As if he was supposed to believe that.
Q turned away from Bond and faced the window instead. The sky was beautifully clear, and clouds stretched out beneath the plane like fluffy, white blanket of mountains. It provided at least some comfort for his eyes and mind.
Since he already happened to be in such height, he took his mobile and took a few hazy pictures. The view was breathtaking, both figuratively and literally.
Later on, when the stewardess returned with the champagne, and Q took one or two gulps out of politeness, the perpetual hum of the engines managed to lull him to sleep.
When his head fell onto Bond’s shoulders during a turn, he did nothing to move him back into the original position. He sat in absolute peace, reading a detective novel. When another two hours passed, the words in his book began to blur. He was tired, so he rested his head against Q’s and breathed in the lemony scent of his shampoo.
It was easy to blend in the crowd at that particular time of year: it was the Day of the Dead tomorrow, and thousands of tourists travelled to Mexico to join the celebrations. Not one man was too outstanding. They passed through the airport smoothly.
It was dark when Q and Bond arrived at the four-star hotel. It was in the centre of Mexico City, a little too posh to Q’s liking. This was Bond’s world, not his. But he could adapt.
According to what Q had dug out of the dark depths of the internet, Sciarra will be arranging a ‘business deal’ tomorrow, in a flat a block away from the hotel. The parade will provide a great cover and alibi: to both him and 007.
For now, the two of them could just wait.
Each of them had a separate suite, thank God. Q did not know how he could possibly deal with sleeping with the abomination in one room. Having him sitting next to him for the short amount of time they had before heading to their rightful quarters and calling it a night was fairly enough.
Q unzipped his bag and fished out a small piece of tech. An earpiece.
“I’m giving you this so we could stay connected. Do not—I repeat, do not—crush it, throw it away, or drown it in an alcoholic drink of any kind, please. We don’t have an endless supply.”
Bond accepted it. Their fingers touched briefly. “Yes, sir,” he said and added a half-smile.
Q, nonetheless, uttered a micro sigh. Knowing Bond, the odds of never seeing the earpiece again were too high at all times.
“That’s all. Now, I would kindly ask you to retire to your suite and not stain my sight with your presence for the next few peaceful hours.”
It was a rough wake up. Q’s mobile wouldn’t stop yelling at him, heat licked at his feet, and when he finally brought himself to unlock his eyes to shut the alarm up, he saw 007 sitting in an armchair in front of him. Q flinched. For how long was he watching him sleep?
“Good morning, Q,” he said. “I’ve brought you breakfast in bed.”
Q sat up with a grunt. He rubbed sleep and rheum out of his eyes and reached for his glasses.
“What have you done this time, hmm?” he replied. He gazed at the other half of the queen-sized bed. A tray with a fresh glass of orange juice, two warm croissants, and some pineapple lay on top of the sheets indeed.
“Why immediately assume I’ve done something bad, Q,” Bond said. His tone bore a tinge of reproachfulness. “Perhaps I wanted to do something for you. Or perhaps I’ve poisoned your juice so I could chase after my personal vendetta without your responsible arse in the way.”
“So help you God if you dare to be foolish enough to try that, 007,” Q retorted, last traces of sleep worn off. His senses have fully woken up.
He reached for the tray, despite the disapproval of the ‘nice gesture’ from the agent. He was famished—all he had eaten yesterday was a sandwich at the airport and later an apple. Just to be certain, he smelled the juice. It looked and smelled alright, deliciously fresh, even. He took a sip and ate his breakfast in silence.
He merely asked Bond whether he had eaten and if he had checked the environs.
To his surprise, Bond lifted a plastic bag from the ground and emptied it on a coffee table. There were two skull-shaped masks, two black top hats, and two black, matching suits with white imprints of bones.
“First rule of undercover: blend in.”
“To have the perfect aim on Sciarra, you must get on the roof of the opposite building, Bond. I think you should access it from the top floor…” Q said. The last words faded into pondering silence.
“Can you hack into one of the rooms?” Bond was buttoning his shirt. Q’s suit was already on; he tried hard not to stare at 007’s bare chest, and the bastard noticed.
“I am the Quartermaster of MI6 for a reason, am I not?” Q smirked. He opened another window and started typing quickly. “Done. You need to leave in twenty minutes.”
Bond put on the jacket. “Excellent.”
“Now, there is a CCTV camera in the flat. I’ve counted four armed men standing guard, and the heat scan showed me an unpleasant surprise in the form of an explosive ready to go off the moment you fire the first round. Someone needs to be on the inside, Bond, and that someone has to be me. You can’t go in.”
Bond’s face stiffened. He blinked.
“Please, don’t tell me you are worried, 007. I know how to fire a gun if need be,” Q responded. Though, deep down in his stomach, something twisted with an impossible hope he perhaps might truly be worried for him. Him.
“I know you do. But that is dangerous, Q.”
He knew. It had come to the point he started to regret his life choices. One of them was the decision to be insanely brave and do something he’d never thought of even considering.
“You’d asked for my help. I am helping you. I don’t need a failed mission or an agent down,” Q argued. “There is no valid argument that could convince me otherwise, which you are, of course, aware of. Besides, I happen to have invented a device that will disarm the bomb remotely; they won’t even see me coming.”
Bond stepped closer to Q. He contemplated putting his arm on his shoulders; in the end, he did not do it. “Be safe, Q.”
“Always,” Q said. “Unlike a certain somebody.”
Bond jumped over the rails on the balcony and quickly strode along the ledges. He put the radio in his ear; the connection between him and Q was restored after a few minutes of silence.
“Q?”
“I hear you loud and clear, 007,” the man said, quiet. “I am in position. The bomb is deactivated. Sciarra and his business partner have arrived.”
Bond readied his rifle. He put the silencer on, stepping over a gap between two buildings. He was nearly in position, too. Sun shone on his face, and he had to narrow his eyes.
He was worried about Q. He wasn’t a field operative, and missions like these easily go tits up. He has had the experience. If something happens to him in there, if they discover him—
“I’ve eliminated two guards. There are only two now, but I can’t get to them unseen. I’d have to shoot,” he reported.
What secret has Q been hiding from the world? Bond thought he should never dare underestimate the Quartermaster again. That did not lessen on the worry, though.
“Wait, Q.” Bond came to the edge and hunkered down. He could see Sciarra and the other man standing in front of the window as though they were waiting for him to fire; as though they knew.
Sciarra showed the other man a shining ring on his finger, and Bond could swear he had seen one of those before.
Q was inside, so he could hear every word of their conversation clearly. They both spoke Spanish, but he had no problem understanding.
‘Welcome, Signor Sciarra. I trust you had a pleasant journey.’
‘Do you have it?’
‘Yes. It’s over there.’
‘When do we blow the stadium?’
That kind of business deal, then. He pricked up his ears instead of shooting: one of the mission’s purposes were discovering their plans. Q was recording it, he knew, but either way, killing the men at the moment wasn’t an option.
‘This evening at six.’
‘And the flight out of here?’
‘All arranged.’
‘And then what?’
‘Then I visit The Pale King.’
The Pale King? Bond hesitated. He has never heard that name before, but he sensed it was crucial for the operation. Someone no lesser than the head of whatever convoluted organisation that connected all the criminal minds MI6 have been after for the past years.
‘A toast, my friend.’
‘To Death!’
“Bottoms up,” Bond said. He targeted the man. Two bullets escaped the gun barrel and crossed the distance between him and Sciarra in high speed. They broke the glass and embedded in the men’s heads. The shots were clear.
And so were the rounds Q fired to dispose of the guards who were ready to eliminate Bond the second they’ve registered the assault. He had wasted three bullets.
He was a killer now. Bond had brought him to his world, the world of manipulation, pretence, surveillance, and murder without really thinking of what consequences might his ill-considered, often premature actions have.
But it was his choice; he couldn’t have stopped him. Q can well damn obstinate when it came to fulfilling duties. He was entitled to such decisions. Bond could do nothing but go along with it.
They walked through the carnival parade, unrecognisable in their masks. They strode fast enough to get to the hotel in time but slow enough to remain inconspicuous. They sought refuge in the shadows at the walls, where weren’t many people and no one looked. The weapons were safely tucked in the bag Q was carrying.
“Have you recorded everything?” Bond asked, voice stone cold, emotion hidden behind a shell of sobriety—and the mask. He wanted to be certain, although Q was far from an amateur.
Q did not avert his gaze from the crowd encircling them. “Yes, and I’ve extracted all data from Sciarra’s laptop while you were busy on the roof.”
Bond made a brief pause. “Can I ask you a question, Q?”
“I suspect you will anyway, so I as well might say you can, 007,” Q replied.
“Why haven’t you complete the training and become a spy? You’re as good as a Double-Oh, Q.” This question had occurred to Bond before, on multiple occasions, but had never gathered enough interest to ask. Having seen him in action just confirmed him in his professional surmise.
“Perhaps,” said Q, “but I think you’d find out I prove to be more seminal on the position of the Quartermaster. Where would your arse be without me in the lab, hmm?”
“Fair enough.” Q stopped at the crossroads to let some people pass, so Bond had to do so as well. But that changes nothing about the fact you could be the same genius in the field.”
Q moved on. “Have you just publicly admitted I am a genius, 007?”
“I haven’t the faintest idea of what you’re talking about, mister.”
As Q’s hotel room’s door clicked closed, he promptly ran to take his laptop. After he took off his mask, he pulled a flash drive out of his trouser pocket and plugged it in. Bond, however, had a different idea about how to spend the rest of their time in Mexico. Decoding and analysing information, and subsequent dispatch to MI6 could wait for an hour or two. Especially after what they both has just done.
“Q?” he asked.
“Mm-hmm?” Q was absent-minded. His eyes flitted across the screen.
“We are in Mexico during Día de los Muertos, Q, and if someone should celebrate the festival, it’s you and me. Get up and go have some fun.”
Bond’s suit-clad form blocked Q’s field of vision. Q frowned. “I take the liberty of assuming my and your idea of fun slightly differs, Bond,” Q replied. His eyes were focused on the files on his computer. “I have work to do, in case you’d failed to notice.”
“Mallory has no idea we are here, therefore he doesn’t need the files,” argued Bond. He leant over the laptop and put his hands on the top of the screen. His tie swung before it and prevented clear sight of the contents.
Q looked up, this time. He shot an annoyed glance at Bond. “But I need the files,” he insisted. “There is something bigger than Sciarra going on, bigger than any of us. This—all that’s in here—contains more data than we thought we could ever own, Bond. I cannot even begin to imagine what we could do with the half of it.”
“Then don’t.”
Bond gave the laptop a push and closed it swiftly; Q so-so moved his fingers out of the way on time. He took it and threw it on the bed, behind Q. He held out his hands, expecting Q to take them. He did not.
His heart was close to racing at the moment. He swallowed dry. This was too much to bear. He was trying to order him around, and wanted him to just take him by his tanned, calloused, beautiful hands and go do… whatever he was intending to do?
Apparently, he did, since when Q did not respond, he grabbed him and pulled him up, already heading for the door. He somehow got his hands on the mask Q had taken off, and his own dangled on his elbow. “Since I can’t seem to convince you nicely, Q, we have to do this the hard way.”
He backed out of the room, letting go of Q only to pull the door handle. With a foxy smirk decorating his face, he led them both to the morbidly vibrant carnival parade outside. His moves told Q he knew exactly where he was going.
Bond offered Q his arm. Q looked him in the face and back, hesitating. The little voice lurking in the subconscious whispered that allowing Bond to play his games wouldn’t be a wise idea and that he might end up in some serious trouble.
But when it came to Bond, he was never particularly good at listening to that voice, was he? So he linked his arm with his, possible consequences be damned.
“Where are we going?” he asked. They weren’t hiding anymore but walking amidst the bustling crowd, on everyone’s sight yet comfortingly anonymous in their costumes.
“I know a place,” Bond answered, tight-lipped. “They make the best carnitas in town.”
Q was slightly confused by the statement. “Are you… asking me for a lunch?”
“And a tequila,” he said, still as casual. Q knew what that meant coming from Bond’s mouth.
“Is this a date, Bond?”
Do you honestly think you can just say the two of us are going to share some tortilla or whatever that meal is supposed to be and ask me for a drink with that charming smile of yours, if hidden under a skull mask, while we’re on an off-record mission in bloody Mexico and have just murdered six assassins? Oh, of course you do.
“If you want it to be.” Bond even began to swing in the cheery rhythm of the music around them.
“I…” Yes, his mind offered immediately. “don’t know.”
“Then it is a date, Quartermaster. Will you eat carnitas with me?”
So help me Force. “Yes.”
Bond was actually dancing now, dragging Q along with him due to their linked arms. But Q let himself be carried away, this once. There were things to celebrate, after all. Six things lying on the building’s floor amidst pools of their own blood.
The bartender placed two snifters of neat tequila in front of them. Q and Bond lifted them simultaneously.
“To Death,” said Q, repeating Sciarra’s toast. It was to his death.
Bond added, “To us.”
They drank the strong drink off. Bond ordered another round.
Like Q had said, this man will be the death of him one day—so he might enjoy this day while he still can. He emptied the other glass as well, and did not stop Bond from ordering a third.
He found the carnival an acceptable form of entertainment in the inebriated state. More than before, anyway, with all worries and embarrassment long thrown away and the threat of a bomb attack having been warded off, he was more apt to dance and move along with the parade through the entire city.
The hat on the top of his head had somehow been replaced by a flower crown James had bought for him. They were holding hands now, open and joyous.
If this was a date, it was probably one of the best dates he has been on. It was with James Bond—he really wanted to laugh at the absurdity of the fact. James Bond.
James hadn’t even slammed the door to Q’s room, and his shirt was already unbuttoned. Q’s fingers weren’t only skilful with a keyboard; they could make short work of a jacket and a shirt, too, and with ardour that James wouldn’t seek inside the slender body of the boffin.
Q’s mouth was firmly attached to his. The kisses were devouring and hot, and tasting like tequila, but neither of them had that in mind; they were finally each other’s.
They separated for a moment, and James took off the shirt. He threw it on the floor carelessly. Q’s hands were on his chest now, searching, owning, tracing every scar carved into his skin. His lips were pressing a myriad of kisses along his exposed neck.
James slowly navigated them towards the bedroom. Q knocked his shoes off on the way, abandoning them at a chest of drawers. James’ ended up nearby. With his hands in Q’s gorgeous hair, he stepped forward and pushed them on the bed. Q lay on his back, and James was on top of him.
They paused for an instant, looking each other in the eye. There was a spark of longing in James’. Q loved that it belonged to him of all people he could have taken to bed that night. Only to him.
James’ lips parted, and Q met him in another eager kiss before he could say whatever he had desired to say. James found his hands. Lacing his fingers with Q’s, he pinned them to the sheets.
James lay in the middle of the bed. Q rested his head on his chest and listened to his steady heartbeat. The room was dark but a streak of yellow light on the ceiling. It was well past midnight, but the music and cheers of people outside did not seem to cease anytime soon. They would celebrate till the morning and on.
James played with Q’s hair gently with one hand; he couldn’t resist. Every stroke made Q shiver with pleasure. James’ other hand held Q’s. His entire body radiated warmth and warmed Q’s skin and heart.
Q closed his eyes. After a long time, he allowed himself to fully relax, and not just because he was exhausted in entirety.
“What do we do now, James?” he whispered. That question had many meanings. To be completely honest, he was not sure which he’d like to be answered.
“Now we go to Rome.”

ABC Tag
I’m going with Adair because he’s the most-main character of my current trilogy, but I might fill this out for Blythe later since she’s pretty much as much an MC as he is.
A is for Age: 18 (Adair’s the youngest of my five characters- the rest are in their 20s) B is for Biggest Fear: Until book 2 when his fear becomes more emotional (losing the empathetic bond to his pair), it's heights. He's terrified of being off the ground in any way. C is for Current Time: It's late winter at the start of book 1. D is for Drink Last Had: Tea. Definitely tea. This culture drinks a lot of freaking tea. E is for Everyday Starts With: Grumbling about it being way too early to be awake (usually directed at Blythe who's a Cheerful Morning Person ugh), but then getting super excited because he gets to make breakfast! Then losing some excitement because his family of carnies can't agree on anything ever including breakfast. F is for Favorite Song: There are bound to be popular songs in a culture that revolves around the arts, but darned if I know what any of them are. Blythe was probably humming it this morning while being Annoyingly Awake. G is for Ghosts, Are They Real?: At the start of book 1, Addy would say probably not. By the end it's a definite, personal yes. (I mean, he gets to kiss one. That's pretty definite.) H is for Hometown: Sagewood, one of Concordia's small towns in the middle of nowhere. It's *boring*. I is for In Love With: Like that's a secret. Blythe and Etri. My gosh, the boy has it bad for both of them. Fortunately for him it works out to be mutual. It starts as a bit of a crush on these two attractive, slightly older performers, then they become his best friends and eventual significant others. J is for Jealous Of: Addy's not a particularly jealous person. I guess he's sort of jealous of the other artists his age who get more respect than he does, but he knows that he could too if he acted more traditional and he's dang well not going to do that. He's kind of an outsider in his own community. K is for Killed Someone: Unless a shadow or light creature (I haven't decided which) counts, no. That’s assuming he can even hurt them. Not sure yet. L is for Last Time They Cried: Probably within the past few days. He cries pretty easily over pretty much any kind of emotion. (I really need to make this come up more often. He's the most emotional character of the bunch.) M is for Middle Name: None at the moment, but when he gets his promotion to a higher ranking artist in book 2 (basically a symbol of adulthood), his parents' surname (Cerulean) becomes his middle name and he gets to choose a new surname based on his profession. N is for Number of Siblings: One younger sister. He gets along with her, but they're pretty far apart in age and he hasn't been home in a while so he hasn't seen her lately. O is for One Wish: To have a sentinel who will protect him and respect him better than his ex boyfriend did. (Sentinels are an artist's bodyguard/significant other.) P is for Person Last Called/Texted: He avoids writing home whenever possible, but he keeps in better contact with his former master who was like another mom. That said, the last letter he wrote was probably to his ex girlfriend. They're still good friends and keep in contact with each other. Q is for Questions They’re Always Asked: I couldn't think of one so my husband suggested "*You*? Seriously??" because no one ever takes Adair seriously. He's young, adorable, harmless looking, and kind, and I think this tends to make people disregard him. R is for Reasons to Smile: So many things make Adair happy! A new thing to sketch/paint, a change in scenery so he can see/experience new things, friends telling jokes and enjoying his company, yummy pies, beautiful spring days, his cat snuggling him, affection from Blythe or Etri. S is for Song Last Sang: I still don't know songs for this world yet. Probably whatever Blythe was humming while she tended to her plants this morning has gotten stuck in his head, though. T is for Time They Wake Up: Well into morning, probably around 10 given the choice. (Still not as bad as Etri who hates waking up before noon lol.) U is for Underwear Color: Adair's the kind of person who wears whatever looks cleanest. That said, most of his clothes are blue or purple, so it's probably one of those colors. V is for Vacation Destination: As a cartographer, he spent much of his apprenticeship traveling. He doesn't have a favorite place so much as places that served the best foods. W is for Worst Habit: Messy handwriting is probably the most harmless but most frequent. He's a cartographer. His writing has to be legible. He's really bad at making it this way but he's trying to be neater. The most harmful one is a tendency to be too passive and not speak up or letting other people make the decisions. He's gradually getting better at this. X is for X-Rays; Ever Broken a Bone?: Probably several. The other four members of his found family are all strong, athletic carnival performers. Adair is... well, he's a kindhearted artist who got picked on a lot as a kid and probably struggled to keep up with the other kids. Y is for Youth: *cough* I guess this is where I was going with the previous letter. He had a pretty boring, fairly traditional childhood and a slightly less traditional apprenticeship (his master is kind of an oddball like him who didn't quite fit into what Artisans are supposed to be like). He's a friendly person, but he's also kind of quiet and would rather draw something than play with the other more outgoing and social kids. It didn't help that his magic manifested a little later than average (an Artisan's worth is in their ability to possess magic and be an artist with it) and he was always kind of an outsider. He wasn't disliked, but he wasn't exactly included, either. And his biggest childhood bully grew up to be his closest friend because they were both kind of social outcasts with the other kids- this person was also later his aforementioned inept sentinel/boyfriend. He never really got on with his family, either, although hit fit in much better with his master and her family. Yeah, Adair is much happier with where his life is right now even though it's nothing like how an Artisan is supposed to live. He was a crappy Artisan but he's a dang good carny lol. Z is for Zealous: What Are They Passionate About?: Drawing and painting, putting his magic and effort into a really cool map that'll be his final project as an apprentice artist (this is basically like a graduation project and rite of passage rolled into one), cooking, finding yummy foods.
